The hero space of this page was a very important component of the design. The banner was built in flash and includes two different states. The first state is a standard viewing experience without 3D glasses enabled. The second state is a more interactive view of 3D simulation by toggling the 3D glasses on. In the 3D mode the banner is transformed into a dimensional environment with elements that respond to the mouse cursor and activate the scene.

My roles on this project included creating conceptual sketches and page designs and later providing creative direction to a team of designers, illustrators, animators and flash developers. See this project at sony.com/dash

dash Landing Page
The overview tab contained a rich flash experience that showcased the product in whimsical environments. The most unique features of the product were highlighted in fun animated sequences. This page also included a high-level introduction of the product and links to more detailed product information.

Applications Page
The apps tab also included an interactive flash area. This hero space presented the user with simulated application screens and provided more information about the content available for this device. The page also included more detailed descriptions about applications and how easy they are to create and download.

This is the first introduction of dash as a wi-fi enabled device.

Key product features are explained through animations.

Environment 1: The Kitchen

The Kitchen I: Traffic Reports
The animation begins with cars driving on the road. An accident occurs on the highway which triggers a traffic alert on the screen.

The Kitchen II: Weather Alerts
The second part of the animation shows the screen change to a weather forecast calling for rain. Rain begins to fill the sky and flood the environment.

The Kitchen III: Recipes
Finally, rain puddles roll off the table and fill up the base as the water begins to boil. Pasta rises up as the screen changes to a recipe for a pasta dish.

Environment 2: The Bedroom

The Bedroom I: Checking Mail
The opening sequence starts with an alarm as twitter birds fly into the scene. Next a mailbox flag animates and the device screen changes to show a mail application.

The Bedroom II: Playing Games
A stack of checkers fall from the sky and a space shooting game takes over the environment.

The Bedroom III: Streaming Music
Finally, the environment turns into a club, complete with disco lighting, music notes and Justin Timberlake’s “Cry me a River”.

Environment 3: The Living Room

The Living Room I: Streaming Videos
The living room opens with a movie reel unraveling and a short clip of “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” streaming onto the device.

The Living Room II: Digital Photos
Second, dash’s digital photo features are highlighted.

The Living Room III: Sports Scores
Finally, the table top becomes a sheet of ice and hockey players run through a play to highlight up-to-the-minute sports scores on the device.
