PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Netflix | Los Gatos, CA

Product Design & Engineering Manager (Data Platform), 2018-present

I lead the Data Experience team, a +10 person team of designers and full stack engineers. I’m responsible for identifying and understanding user and business needs and delivering critical internal applications that satisfy the productivity needs of data users at Netflix. Our suite of apps enable both expert and novice data users through data discovery, governance and security, pipelines and orchestration, and interactive querying with browser based software.

UX Consultant, 2017

Partnered with the marketing and communications engineering team to build a responsive design system for corporate web properties. I collaborated with the team to identify and produce common design elements and components, bringing cohesion to both the user facing and development experiences across their products. Additionally, I participated in and drove strategy for various ongoing projects requiring workshop facilitation, competitive analysis, and stakeholder alignment.

SpaceX | Hawthorne, CA

Software Design & UX Consultant, 2016

Designed interfaces for Crew Dragon touchscreen displays used by astronauts to monitor mission status and vehicle telemetry during flight. This role required hands-on design work to establish a first of its kind design specification for the unique conditions of space travel (such as touch targets with affordance for astronaut gloves and legibility during extreme screen vibration). Additionally, I created and presented wireframes and designs to Crew Dragon astronauts, NASA, and SpaceX stakeholders, created simulation materials for testing, and helped to prioritize design and engineering efforts to align with key program milestones.

Design & UX Consultant, 2015-2016

Designed the Event Creator product experience, partnering with in-house design and research teams to optimize user flows and incorporate new features, including event listing design and layout controls, within a responsive web product. Created concepts, wireframes, user flows, and screen designs for socially driven event discovery iOS mobile app. Presented design work and concepts to internal leadership and a company board member.

Sony Corporation | San Francisco, CA

Associate Design Director (Sr. Manager), 2012-2015

Managed a team of 5 UX and visual designers while providing direction to 10-14 across strategy, design, content, and engineering to deliver product content experiences in 110 countries and 30 languages through a single platform and design system. Designed browser-based content creation software for internal teams delivering Sony marketing content. Collaborated closely with partners and agency teams across the globe, spending a lot of time working in Tokyo and Istanbul. Also worked on video and photo shoots for consumer electronics from concept to production.
